Go Vegetarian

Why Go Vegetarian?

Different people have different reasons to switch to vegetarian diet. Some of us want to live longer, healthier lives or do our part to reduce pollution. Others have made the switch for a higher, loftier reason – love for planet earth and is balance as well as love for animals and hence ethically opposed to eating them.

Just for the purpose of definition, vegetarian diets exclude meat, but may include dairy products, eggs and fish in some cases. They emphasize foods of plant origin, particularly vegetables, grains, legumes and fruits.

The first thought in people’s mind when considering turning vegetarian is – taste. In truth, many people already know that "non-meat" need not be synonymous with "bland"; in fact, leading a vegetarian lifestyle involves much more than consuming plenty of nuts and seeds. Vegetarian dishes can be surprisingly flavoursome and delicious. So, whether youre already a vegetarian, thinking of becoming one, or simply seeking to add more non-meat options to your diet, several foods exist that are satisfying from both a nutritional standpoint and a taste and texture perspective.

Along with no compromises on taste, it is the overwhelming health benefits of vegetarian living that resonates with a lot of people – as we can see in the growing number of people around the world who have given up meat in their diet. Approximately 7.3 million United States adults enjoy a vegetarian diet.

It is widely believed that a vegetarian diet reduces the risk for chronic degenerative diseases such as obesity, coronary artery disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and certain types of cancer including colon, breast, prostate, stomach, lung and esophageal cancer. There are many more health benefits of vegetarian living which we will share with you in future articles.

Till then, eat healthy!
